100 The War for the World Parts, 1999, clay with metallic paints, 19' x 19' x 12' (48cm x 48cm x 30.5cm). This piece dictated its own creation in that I originally intended it to be three figures, but this fig- ure came out so strong I stopped with him. I originally wanted to show the figures as being weighed down with car parts slogging through the mud in a kind of purgatory whereas this figure suggests a triumph over the machine which is OK with me.

Jeff Mann 101 Remington, 2000, clay with metallic paints, 20' x 13' x 14' (51cm x 33cm x 35.5cm). This piece came to me as a kind of cartoon. Many truck ads are seeking to identify with the cowboy image so the take-off on Remington seemed obvious. The sad reality of course is that very few pickups ever really get used as the ads portray them. Most are used by commuters and sit in parking lots all day.
